No
will the nikon 28-300vr work ok on my d300- as its intended for the full frame camera's:thinking::thinking:

It works well on the D300. My son used that combo recently for a week when we went to Normandy.

Kev.

It works fine. The only real issue is whether the focal length range is suitable. 28mm ism't very wide at all on a DX body, and perhaps not wide enough for a walkaround zoom. Many people would find the 18-200mm DX VR more suitable, but obviously that's a personal thing.

thanks for the feedback guys
i already have the nikon 18-200vr and sigma 10-20mm so am ok at the wide end of the scale.
so was considering the 28-300vr or the 80-400 vr but i cant make my mind up :bang::bang::bang:
looked at the sigma 120-300 but my mate says not half as good as the nikon glass.

If you already have an 18-200 then the 28-300 has a lot of overlap with that. Why not some flavour of 70-300, say? The Sigma 120-300 is a good lens but it's pretty heavy. So it comes back to what you want to do with it....?

will use long lens for motorcycle racing mainly or air shows

Nikon don't make a 120-300 f2.8 zoom, so that alone makes the sigma better.

The sigma is a top notch piece of glass, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, especially those who have never used one and pander to the doomsayers on the net. Yes, it is heavy, but by god is it good.

well said.

Yep the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 is a stunning lens, it's unique in the marketplace and has great iq and range, and it's certainly better than the Nikon 28-300.

This lens is on my radar as soon as funds allow.

I have this lens and although I can't speak from experience, I seriously doubt it will be ideal for motorsport as it is slow focusing. I tried it on a few cars passing at 30-40km in the street and it was very hit and miss.
