Nikon 24-120 F4

Those people who have this lens could you do me a favour, I have just bought a secondhand one,
When it is removed off the camera and you zoom it out to 120, do you see all the inner of the lens, I can see the electronic tape? Etc, it looks strange, and as if dust will get in very easy. The lenses I have had previously have had like a protection over, I have never seen the workings before.

I got one Jan and you can't see any workings and electrical tape. All you see when extended is what I presume 2 protective black sleeves. Sounds like a bad one to me.

Thanks Graham for your quick reply, I think one of the sleeves is missing, i thought it couldn't be right.

Nothing visible on mine ... looks like someone has had a fiddle with it, I would reject it!

Can you post a pic of what you are seeing?

I can see 2 bits of what I assume are ribbon cable and the linkage for the aperture mechanism. These are also visible in the 70-300 when racked out to the long end. Not "inner workings", just connections.
