Nikon 200-500 minimum focus issues

Just bought a nikon 200-500 and tried it on my new d7200.

It doesn't seem to focus at the 2.2mtrs it supposed to any ideas?

it does but i have it on minimum focus lock
the minimum focus distance is 2.2 mtrs but its focusing at about 4 mtrs.

Have you tried mf as well as af?

I once bought a Canon 70-200mm f4 IS off EBay for a quarter of its value because the seller sold it as faulty as it wouldn't focus as close as it should. Worked fine once I set the focus limiter to full range

Yep its fine in mf its a brand new lens its not a big problem just a bit anoying

I asked similar a good while back and was informed the minimum distance is throughout the focal length of a lens, as it's from the sensor.
