Nikon 18-55mm kit lens

On a Nikon D50:

Something has gone on my Nikon 18-55mm kit lens, it now only works on Manual focus. I've cleaned the points on both lens and camera but no luck :thumbsdown: My other lenses, 55-200mm and 70-300mm APO still Autofocus, so it must be the SWM.

I quite liked this lens as a wheel around, so with about £200 to spend, what would you do?

I like landscapes, buildings, interiors, and not too fussed about portraiture.

have you set both controls onto autofocus ? ( the one on the lens and the one on the body ) ??

Thanks, yes I have, also reset in the menu.
