Has anyone any experience with the Nikon 18-140 and the 16-80. I'm considering swapping my 18-140 for the 16-80. The extra 2mm is appealing and the wider aperture. How about IQ? Much different?. This would be used as an everyday/walkabout lens and would be used on a D500. Maybe I should just get a cheap fast prime for the aperture and keep what I have?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I have and love the 18-140mm and up until last week it was my walk around lens, I've now gone for a Tamron 17-50 F2.8 and the IQ in my opinion is noticeably better and I was surprised how much better suited to me that extra 1mm from 18mm made.. I also brought a Nikon 55-300 VR for the rare times I do need that extra length.

Sorry I haven't used a 16-80 but hope this is still helpful.

Yes it is, thank you.

I had a load of the sigma 17-50 (55?) a while back and I really liked it. Apart from the rotating focus ring. 50mm is a bit short for me though, I don't need 140mm but up to 70-80 ish is useful so perhaps I should consider the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4? Any one with experience of that lens?
