Nikon 18-105mm VR Lens

Nikon 18-105mm VR Lens. Is this know as a good lens to have? Good IQ etc? Better than the average kit lens?
 
I got the 18-55 kit lens with my D60 when I up graded to a D90 I got the 18-105, I will never use the 18-55 again it is nowhere near as good as the 18-105.
 
I really like my kit lens. I never really used to use my 18-55 on the D60 but don't mind using the 18-105 on my D90 at all.

Im also tempted by this lens but not sure if is worth getting really as already have a 18-135... hmmmmm...
 
I have used the 18-135 and the 18-105 , the 105 performs so much better in my opinion and gives a sharper shot , think the VR makes all the difference.

I know what you mean, as they are both about the same (ish) price I too have thought about changing and sacrificing the extra bit of zoom and gaining the VR. Having said that, I've haven't had any problems with shake with the 18-135 (unlike the 70-300 where I have found the VR essential), so I think I would only change if the quality of the 105 was noticeably better as I'm bound to lose some money in the transaction. And having said that, I haven't had cause to be dissatisfied with the quality of the 135 in the type of photo's I take, so I remain undecided and look forward to many other replies to this thread.
