Nikon 16-35 f/4 or Zeiss 18/3.5?

I'd be interested in hearing how it holds up aswell weighing up a potentially D800/e purchase.

I'v heard alot of negative comments about it but the photozone review has it out performning both the 14-24mm and the 21mm Ziess stopped down at 21mm. I'm wondering whether alot of the negativity comes from the poor boarder performance wide open which personally I'd consider a bit of a non issue for landscape shooting.

If it performed well a setup of a 17-35mm and 50mm/85mm 1.8 G's sounds nice.

Was wondering if you have any examples to show from when you had it as I'm seriously considering this lens? I've looked at some Nikon equiv. examples and they also look dodgy in the corners sometimes (although sometimes not).

I would take the photozone Zeiss reviews with a large pinch of salt, they certainly do not reflect actual results from the lenses.

Never kept them, biined them as fast as i shot them, i was shooting straight lines on fences, brick walls etc, etc checking for the distortion etc, etc, sharpness in the centre was superb but was mush in the corners so sent it back, i got it from an Ebay seller and he was happy to accept a return but only because he quoted a 2 year warranty which Tokina say they wont honour as warranties are only for the original purchaser and he didnt and wont supply a receipt, but he has it up for sale again at an inflated price, i paid £600 but he now wants £649, best to avoid this one as youll not get your money back as he now states the warranty doesnt apply to UK buyers.

Pity you don't have the shots. I've been looking at pixel peeper and see any examples that would worry me or that are any worse than the Nikon ones. Perhaps a bad copy? Maybe it was never new in the first place, hence the 'lost' receipt?

I reckon I need to do some more research.
