I just wondered if anyone had either of these lenses and what are your thoughts on them please? I am looking to buy one or other as a gift. the lens will be used on a DX body.

Thanks Dave. Please tell my husband how lucky he is!!
Mind you I was being a little bit naughty, because I was hoping the answer would be the 85mm micro, which I could then use as well. The 105mm is far too heavy for me, but then it is his Christmas present!!

Thanks for the heads up, although it does seem that he would like the new Sigma 150mm with OS over hearing a conversation he was having! I checked out prices and it looks like it he won't be getting a macro lens for Christmas!! Oh well ... back to the drawing board! :)
 
What is your budget?
What is he likely to be using it for?
What does he have now?

There are alternatives to a macro lens to take macro shots.
