Hi,

I've had a play with NIk Silver Efex and really like what it can do, I'm not the most technical editior and being able to just muddle through playing with the sliders for what "looks" right is good enough for me.

I have seen that it now comes from google and its attached ot a larger package so I have a few questions

Is it likely to be stopped or not supported anytime soon?
Are there any alternatives I should be looking at?
How much use are the other programmes?

Im currently using Lightroom 4 for the main part of my work flow.

On a side note, is it worth upgrading lightroom 4 to version 5?

Hi, I bought the whole package when it was on offer and to be honest well worth the money IMO even if there where no upgrades to what I have.
Just did a test on code MORETHANWORDS15 and it takes the price from $149 to $126 about £80 so really for what you get it is again IMO a steal, don't worry about buying in USD it will work from the site.

LightRoom 5 has a number of known (by Adobe) bugs, some of which have been addressed in RC 5.2, but I believe there are some problems with it.
I'm holding off upgrading from LR4.4 until I know all the problems have been eradicated.
 
Is this a standalone software package or just a plug in for PR/CS or both?
