Nik Software HDR Efex Now Available...

It's on the Nik site for about £150 if I remember rightly. Interesting to see how it compares to Photomatix. I generally like the Nik software and look forward to seeing some results and reviews.

I've just had an initial play with the trial and my first impression is good. The interface is intuitive and fine tuning in real time is simplicity itself. I've not compared the output to Photomatix (never got a single result I liked out of that!) but some of the subtler results I've got are real enhancements to my test images... not too obviously HDR'd either! I think that used sparingly and subtly (such as using a u-point to give a lift to a dull sky but leaving the rest of the image untouched) this could be a real world useful product.

Just a first impression... need to play a bit more.

Why are only SOME of the Nik tools x64bit and not all of them?

I am running photoshop at 32 bit at the mo because of that. Be nice to change back to 64bit

They're rolling the 64 bit versions out one by one, Janice. Latest on line is Silver eFex and Color eFex (just last week I think). The others should follow shortly... hopefully! I'm the same as you, been working in 32 bit but with Color eFex now upgraded I've switched to 64 bit for day to day and switch back to 32 when I want to use Dfine or Sharpener.

Anyone tried to buy NIK Software using the 'download' method and paying in US dollars??

The Software mentioned above comes in at £135 US $ ..... about £85 :gag: but can it be done??

can't get it too work on my photoshop CS4.

Installed it and its in the Nik software filters, but it's greyed out.

:(

I think it's very good.

Not only are they now putting out x64 versions, they've went the other way with HDR Pro, as it doesn't work in x86 windows!

A lot of people have bought it without reading the system specs (as you do) only to their cost.

It is mentioned in the system specs that it runs on 64bit windows only..... how to make friends and influence people....

It seems to have some issues with compatabillity, I had a heck of a job to get it to work, gave up on one computer, it installs fine but keeps crashing photoshop. Personally I wasn't impressed with it, very slow, I didn't like any of the presets, played about with it and got a result fairly similar to dynamic photo hdr (which is cheaper and lots quicker) I like Nik stuff normally but this is pants!
