Good evening everyone hope you all had a good Xmas:)

I'm looking at purchasing the Nik collection, is it only available as a download? I've seen it for $149 as a download. I looked on Amazon for the box set but says not available which leads me to thinking that it is only available as a download?

Thanks

It is now owned by Google and yes, only available as a download :)

It's much cheaper from Google, I think some offer a code for a discount too, can't remember where it is though, someone else may be able to help.

The $149 price is from Google. http://www.google.com/nikcollection/

There were a lot of 15% discount codes around but I think Google cancelled them all during 2013.

In March 2013 Google gave a free copy of the entire collection to anyone who had already purchased one or more Nik products.

I used a 15% discount code when I bought my NIK suite a few months ago.
There are still lots of 15% discount codes offered from various web sites if you do a search, which brings the cost down to just over $126, which is under £80.
It's always worth trying a few discount sites until you find a code that works.

Thanks Brian I will have a look around and see what I can find.

Yeah I paid far more than that for Silver Efex alone and it was well worth it. The suite is pretty amazing value at that price.

Didn't you get the free upgrade to the complete suite?
I understand that Google allowed users of individual modules a free upgrade to the complete suite when they took it over.

Yes I did. I also got the push update when they rolled out Analogue Effects. Bargain. Just glad I never upgraded to the full suite before they bought it ;)

I have just seen a 15% discount code so will get that ordered later today:) Thanks everyone

At that price it is still a bargain, believe me. It's now an integral part of my workflow.

Just seen the last post. Have just turned on my laptop to give it a go, fingers crossed it works...... Watch this space!

Whoo Hoo Used the discount code hdrsoftware15 and it worked, $126.65 Can't be bad:) Thank you everyone for your input:ty: now have to have a play but not tonight as I have a stinking migraine:(

Glad you found a code that worked.

I've found in the past that you often need to try a few before you get one that works.

Thanks for the information wrt the discount code. That code worked for me, though I was concerned about the "Special Promo excludes 3rd party products and specials" which comes up after you have applied the discount code. Any idea what that's all about?

It means non Google software and special offer pricing, nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the explanation, I've not got round to installing the collection yet. I need to understand how to get it in to PS and LR and won't get time to investigate that tonight, so any hint's/tips would be welcome.

Does any one know how many machines does the instal/ serial number allow?
I may order this tonight but I'm building a new pc in a few months and will want it running on that and my current laptop.

The licence agreement states up to two computers for your personal use, and you can uninstall / reinstall as needed providing you are within this limit.

There is no serial number as such - you just get a link to a full copy of the software.

It downloads into the host application in my case PS. You find them under the filters menu. Really looking forward to finding out about using them, YouTube will be a good bet I think:)

This ^, when you install the software it finds the software it knows LR, PS, Camera RAW etc. and installs itself as plugin to each automatically. Within LR right click your image and click "edit in" and you'll see each piece of the collection in there, just the select the one you want to play with.

Nik used to have a download for some extra recipes but it's not on the Google/Nik page any more. You can get it here instead: http://members.ziggo.nl/hstadman/Downloads/NIK-Google collection recipes.zip

When unzipped the recipes are already sorted into folders - one each for Color Efex Pro 4, HDR Efex Pro 2 and Silver Efex Pro 2. They'll need importing into each title.

NB. The import procedure is different for each title so you may need instructions (which I've got somewhere).

Thanks for the link Ozei, it would be really good if you could find the instructions for the procedure. Thanks again:ty:

The more this thread keep popping up in my notifications i can see myself buying it!
I'm using the 15 day trial at the moment. Looks like the software takes some getting used to but ive had a few nice results with it already.

Has anyone bought any books to help you with the software or just picked it all up from youtube etc?

I've trialled Silver Efex several times over the last few years and liked it a lot, but never quite persuaded myself to buy it. However, with the discount code, I've just clicked 'Purchase'. :)

TBH, I'm not hugely bothered about the rest of the products in the suite from the time I've spent with them before, but I may be surprised.

I just jumped straight in and found the YouTube vids I've looked at to be stating the obvious 99% of the time, but that's how I tend to operate with software :)

It's silver efex i'll be wanting it for mainly. Not getting great results stacking filters in colour efex pro at the moment but I'm sure you YouTube vids will help that.

Thanks for the working code. I just bought it before the code disappears. I was very happy to see that they accept Paypal Express checkout, too.

I would be really interested in this too if you can find the instructions. I'm not that PC literate to be honest but have managed so far:)

Just made the purchase. Thanks for the coupon!

Looks like there are a few of us lighter in the purse/wallet area :D I've not had a chance yet to play around....oh dear that sounds a bit dodgy:eek: What I mean is I've not tried the software yet but can't wait to give it a go

Here you go Maggie.

Import into one title at a time (from the corresponding download folder). Close plugin and open it again to check the recipes have gone to the right place. Proceed to next title if all is OK.

Let me know if you have problems.

Wow thanks Ozei that's really kind of you, much appreciated:) I think I will get my other half to take a look at this, I'm bound to cock it all up:( Probably be tomorrow or next day. Will let you know if all goes ok x

There's no doubt that Silver Efex is the star of the bundle. Viveza is also very nice when you get your head round it though. It allows a lot of control over localised subtle effects. And I'm finding Analogue Efex more useful than I expected.
