Nightmare day

Well I had a nightmare today at Millwall.

I moved at the last minute thinking Millwall may score in the first half. I then had a memory card corrupt on me. I also had one of my cameras set to auto reset on the photos numbers so when I put a new card in, it messed things up.

I had Millwall players warming up in front of me as I was level with the edge of the box. Then Millwall score both their goals at the other end (i.e. where I was) and I missed them both.

Then on train home, two fifty year old guys were p*ssed and abusing a lady. So I stuck my oar in as she was very upset. They then gave me so much abuse I pulled the emergency lever and got them kicked off the train. They were on the wrong train as well.

Have to be in Windsor at 11:30 to photograph a 1/2 marathon tomorrow. Really don't feel like it.

Hope your day was better !!

Bummer, still on the plus side you did the right thing with the lady on the train. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

My day started with sitting on the M25 for a couple of hours. Was trying to get to QPR. Gave up. Told the boss. Got off at J7 and went to Crawley and sweet talked my way in. Very accommodating club. (Gash game though.... but hey ho!)

Also got stuck on the M25 at Dartford bridge late last night coming back from Southend.

All in all... terrible weekend. Up at 5am tomorrow for a half marathon.

I feel your pain, Rob... I feel your pain.

Wow Seba

That was a lot worse than mine.

some days your a rooster,
then some your a feather dusta.

No one likes confrontation though. Of any kind.

No you're not serious Gary - are you?

Sick of being ****ed about by rank amateurs masquerading as pros who dont give a ***** about anyone but themselves.

Really sorry to hear that Gary :-( Think long and hard about your decision. Have a break maybe. Then come back.

P.s, I'll take the lens.

Already thought long and hard, its something which has been bugging me for a while

The lens is yours with a 5 year warranty for £5800 plus delivery if you want it, only 6 weeks old.

Is it really that bad Gary?

Sorry Rob... thread hijacked already :)

I have no interest in Nikon gear and I ahve no interest in Shooting Super League Rugby..

GARY! Seriously? OK let me ask.. have you ever actually taken a break.. a month or so off? I mean just away from the business.. not holidays.. I mean live your life as normal minus photogrpahy... If not then you should try that before burning your bridges mate... by burning your bridges I mean selling all your gear.. as we both know it wouldnt be easy to start again...

Tony the thread has now got far more interesting after the hijacking :)

Just getting out of RL Tony, going to try something new, photography is a bug and ive got that for life.

What's the story with these amateurs or can't you really say on here?

We all have a game like that from time to time, stick at it and things will come your way

Gary, hope everythings ok and you get something else sorted. seeing those rugby shots last week (the flying try one) you are to good to not be at a high level

Sorry that you had a bad day Big Rob, hopes things got better for you.

Sorry to hear that Gary, you are my inspiration. When I need to try and better my shots, I flick through your site.

As an amateur myself working up slowly, I do understand what you are saying.
I attended the NCCC yesterday at Leigh, for the miners, I took the photos with my d7000 and 70 -300 mm, there was others there with £1000's worth of equipment, a s I will not give any of my photos away for free I have been contacting local papers etc to which they have already been sent loads of free photos as well as being all over facebook. That stops my photos and many other togs photos being bought, which allows me to try and buy better gear..

I guess this is partially what you mean by amateurs....

Chin up mate, your work is too high of a standard to stop.

Feel free to look at my work, hopefully you will like it and my average standard will make you carry on...haha

I invested a lot of money in my gear (same as you) and always thought its money in the bank when i finish as a self employed photographer.. however theres no way its all going.. already decided keeping 1dx and 70-200 to potter about with :)

So what ya gonna do.. money making or hobby? You did well to be one of the few poeple making money out of rugby.. I ahve tried most other sports.. or is it not sports yer thinking of?

Gonna sell the 400mm and at least 1 D3S and keep D800, 70-200mm, 28-75mm, and get another 16-35mm and a crop body, when will they ever release that bleeding D400

Was never in it for the money mate, there wasn't/isn't a great deal of it around in RL although it was nice when it came to the end of the month

Still got an option of just covering sport locally paid for with the lesser kit option but really not sure i can be 4rsed anymore and still contemplating an offer to carry on but working for someone else who is very professional in how he runs his business, but again, i really dont know if i can be 4rsed

I have listed my 400mm for sale, if that sells that will make my mind up for me and after that theres no way back and ill just do some hobbyist stuff

Kinda toying with doing some landscape stuff, not paid (not good enough) but just for the pure enjoyment of being out in the open and doing something i like, money just complicates matters.

Last time i was robbed out of a days pay i just drove up to Ulswater for the day, sat on the pier at Glenridding for a few hours, took some pics and wandered round for a while, never enjoyed myself as much in years.

Was never any good anyway Gary, won't be missed ! ;0)

Gutted to hear your going through with it, wasted talent and by far the best RL photographer I've met. One more time this week?
