What does this mean?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but seen on a few of peoples sigs (people with canons)

Thanks

Dion!

They are referring to the Canon 50mm f1.8 lens which has it's name due to fantastic quality at a low low price

Just a nick-name for a 50mm prime lens (not just Canon, what ever that is ;)). Generally the f/1.8 version but f/1.4 also available (but 3 times the price) and if you are feeling rich f/1.2. It's a compact and generally cheap and creative lens with great control of DoF and great in low light (very sharp stopped down a little)

ok, thanks!
If you dont ask, you dont get to know i suppose!

Does this mean that with all this "what class are you" rubbish going around we can re-dfine class on the basis of "nifty fifty" ownership

1.8 for the masses = working class
1.4 for the better off = middle class
1.2 for the wealthy/ landed gentry = upper class

just my tuppence:)
