nifty fifty lens hood?

worth the 5 quid or so from ebay?
got my niddy fiddy. today. and although we get the one day of sun in scotland. i prefer to have lens hoods on my lens. for flare and just for that little more protection (care freak)
they worth it or not?
it is 52mm thread before i do something stupid and buy the wrong one?

Definitely get one. I rarely use filters, but there's a lens hood always on all my lenses.

so it is a 52mm thread im after. im just going by whats written on the lens. that being a circle with a line through it which i presume is the diametor (too late to be looking up spelling)
