NickD's 52 for 2026 - Week 13 - The Night Sky.

Niiiiiice :)

Thanks!

That's a very interesting building amongst others that would actually be fairly interesting in their own rights if they weren't overshadowed by this one..
That's a good find, well captured and I'm glad you weren't afraid to crop into the buildings. A more wide angle shot may have lost the impact imo.

Cheers!
I did try wider (and taller) versions, but they took away from what I wanted the subject to be.

Really bright, colourful and fun.

Thanks!
The whole area was practically a building site for many years, but it's quite vibrant and interesting now.

Nice one Nick, the eyes are the windows of the soul...not so sure about googly eyes though... :D

Cheers!
It fascinates me that simply adding comedy eyes can give character to a shipping container.

I hope that's a Dentist's office, made me chuckle.

Thanks!
That would be a great idea!

Lovely composition that makes the colours and shapes stand out even more.

Cheers!
It's as if it was laid out to be photographed.

That's a great shot. Are the tubes above lights? Would be great to see it lit up at night if they are.

Tiny point, but I don't think it's level.

Thanks!
I must try and check it out after dark.
I did try to get it straight, and bits of it are, but there are so many upright lines, and there's a bit of distortion in there too, so I found it really tricky to get right.

That's great Nick

Cheers!

A great find, lovely colours

Good eye Nick, definitely works well. I don't usually find these this early. I usually find them in the late spring. They make for wonderful close-up/macro shots.

Nice subtle rain captured Nick :)

Interesting subject with the streaks of rain and lively bokeh in the background.

Nice subtle rain captured Nick :)

Thanks!
Were it not for that I'd have probably binned it.

As per Dave, it's good to see the capture of the rain itself :)

Cheers!
I think this was one of the weaker shots I had in the bag, but it was the rain streaks that led me to pick it.

Interesting subject with the streaks of rain and lively bokeh in the background.

Thanks!
I have no idea what the subject actually is, but there's something about the look I like.

Nice shot Nick, love the bokeh.

Cheers!
I'd actually got the 150-500 on at the time, and I quite like what it does to oof areas. Not as smooth as it could be, but not annoying either.

Nicely captured just a hint of rain

Thanks!
Its subtle, but it's just on theme.

Yes that works well with the drops of rain

Cheers!
I got lucky with the poor light forcing a slow enough shutter speed to catch them.

That's a good shot Nick

Thanks!
I wasn't sure when I put it up, but it's growing on me.

Looking suitably bedraggled, very subtle rain adds the finishing touch

Cheers!
I don't know what the tree debris is, but it's hanging on for dear life.

A clever take on the theme ;)

Nice one. Put the Kettle on :)

That works well for theme and technique

Thanks!
The theme kinda forced the technique.

Nicely framed.

Cheers!
Honestly it's the first time I've used a kettlebell for anything!

Nicely done

Thanks!

A clever take on the theme ;)

Cheers!
I'm relatively pleased with how it worked out.

Hey, I like that - clever

Thanks!
I Knew the gym would be pretty empty, so figured I'd see what I could find.

Nice one. Put the Kettle on :)

Cheers!
I much prefer using a regular kettle!

Great idea Nick, mind you, I'd rather look at the image then actually use the kettle bell...

I like the b&w, it's got the right amount of black, white and mid tone. I also like the angle of the weights.

That's different Nick. A good interpretation of the theme and works well in B/W.

Me too, but none of us are getting any younger, and needs must!

The B&W came around as there's wasn't much colour in the scene anyway, do I figured why not go the whole way.

I was just looking around for anything you can look through. Not sure what drove me to take the camera to the gym, but there were a few opportunities in there.

Nicely imagined and realised. Didn't take too much 'working out'.

Cheers!
As it happens I've found that taking the camera makes the gym a whole lot more fun.

Smashes both ideas, at first I thought who takes their dumbell to the bus stop. :)

I enjoyed looking at that and figuring it out.

Love the depth of field here and the framing draws the eye into the frame. I also like the implied geometric lines of the queue of barbells.

It's an odd setup. Glass front, 1st floor overlooking the road. I can see how it could be confusing.

It was the shapes in the rack that appealed to me. I have to admit to shifting a few barbells and putting the kettlebell there. Obviously, being a courteous gym user, I did put everything back as I found it.
