NickDs 52 for 2022 - Week 52 - Showcase.

Week 26 - One Half.

Ok, a bit of artistic licence was exercised here... it's not quite half. It will be tomorrow night, but that's too late, and I'm trying to cling on to the schedule as best I can during crazy season at work.
It wasn't a planned shot, I had a staged composition in mind for this one, but when I went out to cover the bikes, there were the dying embers of a fiery sunset in the distance that gave the moon a lovely warm glow, so I went out to try and capture it.

Well you have to take the opportunities as they appear in photography because they never last long.
At first I thought of saying crop some more off the bottom but I like the fact that the moon is in the top part of the image - gives a sense of being "up there."

Week 24 - Something beginning with P.

Duke Ellington's 1938 classic, Prelude To a Kiss. A beautiful chord structure, and a gorgeous melody, with Lyrics added a few weeks later (as often happened) by Irving Gordon and Irving Mills. Various versions have been recorded over the years, from Billie Holiday to Alicia Keys more recently, but the Sarah Vaughan version still stands head and shoulders above the rest for me.

Cracking shot, love it

Thanks!
That was my thinking with the crop, to try and give it a sense of height and isolation.

Cracking shot, love it

Cheers!
I always feel a bit guilty doing 'set up' shots, as if it's cheating somehow, but I quite like that one.

Always in awe of great shots of the moon. It's bang on theme for me.

That works nicely Nick. Doesn't matter that it's not perfectly half moon for me.

Beautiful image Nick. A really good submission.

It just had a really nice colour to it that night

That is a really lovely moon shot. Love the colours and the detail and it ticks the theme box perfectly for me.

Cheers!
It never ceases to amaze me how much damage it's taken over the millennia when viewed closely.

Thank you!
It's close enough I think.

That's a cracking picture Nick :D

Thanks!
It's hard to take a bad photo of the moon, it's such a beautiful thing.

Beautiful image Nick. A really good submission.

Cheers!
Nature just gives you these shots from time to time.

Week 27 - A post + Tech, Dappled Light.

Running behind with this one, but managed to get out and about yesterday. Grabbed this one, with a combination of direct and dappled light... I think.

Good shot Nick, fits theme and tech well with the walker adding additional interest.

Lovely shades of green you've captured along with the nice light.

This is good Nick, fits both remits IMO.

Thanks!
I think the weather has guaranteed we'll all meet the tech this time.

There are a number of posts around the route, andI did have some with 'better' dappled light, but it was the ones with figures in that I kept coming back to

Lovely shades of green you've captured along with the nice light.

Thank you!
It's beautiful up there... well it was at the weekend, it's probably a scorched wasteland by now.

Good combination of theme and tech Nick. The path and the person add to the interest.

Week 28 - Water.

Ok, there's not much in the way of actual water in the shot, just the one tiny drop on the beak, but c'mon... it says water! :D

I really like this shot, the depth of field is great, and the detail on the bird is really sharp. The bowl is perfect for the subject of water.

Fab Maggie shot Nick :)

It certainly works for me. Lovely bird as well.
Thanks!
We have a range around here, from neat and obviously well fed, to knackered and tatty. This one is one of the better ones,
Love it. You’ve really captured the plumage beautifully, and the image just exudes ‘water’ :D

Cheers!
The light really brought out the blues for some reason, I didn't really need to do anything.

There's something about the results from that 70-300 that always seems pleasing.

Made me laugh Nick!. It's a great shot.

Thanks!
To me there's a look of 'yeah...what?' on it's face.

Fab Maggie shot Nick :)

Cheers!
In the right light they're a lovely looking bird to photograph.

Thats a stunning magpie shot Nick! beautiful!

Thank you!
It was a stinking hot day, I knew if I staked out the bowl for long enough the magpies would come. They seem to be the bravest of the garden visitors.

That says water in my spelling book! Such stunning colours for a much maligned bird.

There's something about them that's hard to like, but it's hard not to admire some things about them.

Week 29 - Handles.

Well just one, but there's another on the back side. I did get some shots 'end on' with both in shot, but for some reason I couldn't get the composition to work.

That's an interesting handle.
I bet its seen a few twists and turns in its time.

There's something beautiful about decay.

Certainly been around for some time. Well spotted.

Cheers!
It's a bit of a mix, I'm guessing that the casing and the lock itself are quite some years apart in age.

Great colour and texture. Well spotted.

Thanks!
It's amazing how rot creates interest.

The rusty handle contrasts well with the green background. Nicely captured.

Cheers!
I did actually prefer the handle on the other side, but that left me with a busy road as the background, which wasn't as nice.

Well worn, and nicely shot.

Thank you!
It's definitely into advanced oxidisation territory!

Week 30 - Dusty.

It always amazes me how electronic items attract dust (camera sensors for example:confused:).
My partner has an electronic drum kit, and she tears it apart for maintenance every once in a while. It's always the sensors that are covered most.
I liked the ambiguity of the shot, and the fact that it could almost be some kind of futuristic building (albeit one covered in dust).
