Help!!!!!

I need to go to Banbury for lunch tomorrow and would like some suggestions of places to get some colour shots with my Yashica mat.

I am driving so getting places is not a problem but don't know the area at all.

I will be travelling along the coast and up the A34 so anywhere en route is also possible.

Thanks,

Heather

About 20 minutes north you have Stratford Upon Avon, a little further up & you have Kenilworth Castle, Warwick Castle.

Thanks for replies, but I am already over 2 1/2 hours away from home so don't really want to go further away than I already am!

Oxford may be a possibility. Are there nice bits of canal that I could get to? or landscapes?

Oxford is good in many ways but parking in the centre is woeful so you have to do the park and ride thing. Canal is OK, and you can get some nice shots near the river, but there will be lots of people. And of course there's the College architecture.

Another possibility would be Blenheim Palace, only a few miles off the A34 (take the A44 north towards Woodstock). When we went (ages ago) they didn't charge to go in, park and wander around. We walked round the lakes and got some nice views.

Further up from Banbury it gets pretty flat, but there is Edge Hill and Avon Dasset hill, not far away. Or there are places on the edge of the Cotswolds like Chipping Norton, also not far away. You can cut across to the A34 easily from there...

Thanks Chris, will see how much time I have spare as to whether I go into Oxford. Might see if I can find bits of canal out in the country on the way home.

Yes, there is canal all the way from Banbury to Oxford, with some nice swinging bridges too. Access might be a problem; need a good map.

I'll have another go at convincing you about Blenheim Palace...

OK it's not very level, and not taken with a film camera, but I was barely mobile at the time!

Just got back and never took a picture all day! Went and looked at the canal at Heyford but sun was wrong side of canal so didn't bother. Lovely part of the country though and will try to get back another time for Blenheim Palace and other shots.
