I have just ordered my Christmas Presents!!!

Mum&Dad are buying me a new camera bag - I decided on the Lowepro MiniTrekker in black..:D Saved them money, cos one I was looking at was over £100 and saved them even more money, cos the MiniTrekker was cheaper online than Jessops where Mum was going to be silly and go get it from.

Grandad had been looking in Argos at the 70-300VR which was retailing at £399.79 and said that he was willing to pay that for the lens for me for christmas.
So found it on warehouseexpress at £298 so asked him if he would be willing to put the £100 i'd saved him towards the sigma 105 f2.8 macro, which i have been deciding which to get, and that I would put the extra money towards it he said that was fine.

Mum rung him to say we'd ordered them, and he said that I had to keep my money in the bank and he'd give mum the money for both lens....:woot::woot::woot::woot:

Its ok...I know I'm spoilt!

But that aside, my nan passed away in Oct this year, and she was always very supportive of my photography. Its just nice that I have supportive parents/grandparents who will help me to achieve my dreams/success in what I want to do - even thought they're not rolling in it.

:)

I cannot wait for my new toys, but I know I am very lucky to also be getting them.

Whats betting I have to wait til christmas to play with them though?!

Too right! Jeeze some people!
I bet you even rattle the prezzies under the tree :D
Sorry to hear about your nan though :(

That's a nice couple of lenses you're getting - I've had one of them (the 70-300 VR) and have the Sigma at the moment, they both make great portrait lenses on top of their "normal" uses.

Just remember, you'll need to be extra nice to the family from now until christmas

Yep I do rattle the prezzies under the tree - Mum and I also "Squish" our presents, if its something soft, in the hope we can guess what they are...:lol:

Thanks for the :( for Nan. It was the 2nd Oct, and so very sudden. We found out how terminally Ill she was on the 26th Sept!

But how supportive she was, we even arranged her funeral around togging commitments. I was 2nd shooting at one of Diddydaves weddings, on the 9th so we had the funeral the day after, so it didnt really interfere. And Nan would have given that her blessing!!!

But got to bless granddad in all this too!

I'm an only child and an only grandchild - Least I'll admit I'm spoilt.

Surprisingly the 10-20 makes quite a good portrait lens too :)
But yeah, Dave's 90mm Tamron which he can now have back [hear him cheer??] I use that constantly at the second shooter at weddings....so I am aware that a 105mm will probably also make a good portrait lens :)

Sorry to hear about your nan.

Congratulations on your new toys. Good set of glass you got yourself

I am sure you will do these glass a lot of justice.

Thanks Wail :) Hopefully they'll have lots and lots of use too! :D

I nearly got slapped for taking a girl's portrait for her using the 10-20......probably should have kept it nearer 20 than 10 mind you......

:lol::lol: I did some portraits of my friend between 14-20 mm and she quite liked them. Mind you though, a lot of people wouldnt DARE even consider using anything under 50mm for portraits, and I use an 18-70!
