I have the D80 with 18-70mm lens, my Dad owns a Sigma 10-20mm wide angled lens, and at the end of this week I should have about £200, 250 at a push. I am considering buying a macro lens, whats the best one in my budget? & then whether I have enough left or the week after, I shall buy a tri-pod & shooting tent. Any reccomendations on products appreciated.

I have a 105mm sigma canon fit though for sale.
it's a great piece of kit but I really don't use it enough
ona budget I think they're great for macro and portrait

He's a darksider though:)

105 for me too. I have it and it's ace:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

I'd get the Tamron 90mm or Tokina 100mm (if you can find one, awesome but rare)

buy a good tripod first.
a macro lens is crippled without one.

i'd say the opposite personally, i know some people use a tripod for macro work, but for insect or living objects it's hard work, i have never used a tripod for macro work. But the advice on a good tripod is good all the same, a manfrotto 190 XproB with 322 RC2 head should get you going :)

I have a Nikon AF-S 105mm 2.8G ED, fantastic lens. Not sure what they go for 2nd hand but it does a cracking job!

some people use monopods for macro work, rocking backwards and forwards gently to fine focus
