well what type of photos i like doing ,

lens i have
1]100-400mm l is
2]EF 28-90mm Autofocus F4-5.6 ok nowt speical
some of the ones i was thinking of
mpe 65,but then i dont really want to have to fork out for the twin flashes,
so poss
100-150mm macro + ext tubes,
17- 40 l

There isn't one lens that will cover all that range to be honest, judging by what you have already I would suggest something like the Sigma 105mm macro for small studio, still life, macro and portraits.

Wildlife you can use your 100-400mm - it's ideal.

yeah was thinking the 100 macro would cover most things on my list.


17-40l ?

The 17-40 is a nice lens for landscapes and also on a cropped sensor (zoomed to about 35mm) would equate to a 50mm on a full frame sensor, which is the field of view of what the eye sees, so good for buildings/scenic shots too....

Also good for different perspectives with wildlife etc.

No worries mate! They're both very good lenses, I don't own both but have seen very good results from both..
