So me old comp is on it's last legs using XP 2Gb, crap graphics card semi built years ago i'm sure you understand what i mean. but it runs cs5 and lightroom 3 ok i'm sure it can run faster.
I am looking for advice on what desktop i should buy mainly the spec really to run just cs5 and lightroom but i will upgrade to LR 5 though.. i have know idea but i don't want to be spending much over 500, cheap i know but that's me budgie..

The Intel i5 processor runs CS5 pretty well, especially with an SSD. I'd add a minimum 8GB of RAM (although 16GB would be better). Windows 7 (or 8) instead of XP.

If you want to build it yourself, I'll be selling a few bits very soon (RAM, Graphics card, SSD, etc). Edit: first ad thread is the SSD, which is here.

Ok, good luck with choosing a supplier. Changing to an SSD will give a huge improvement over your existing system - as will Windows 7 (or 8 if you can stand the interface). There were some genuine Win 7 sellers on ebay recently (around £50 for Pro).
 
Don't forget the monitor, just bought a HP Pavilion 23 x i, £140 from PC W orld/ Currys, on EPZ they show a zone bar, can see all the zones clearly. I think for the money it's a great buy. I use LR4 it fits a treat no scolling of the image when processing.
