news for us iphone 2G owners

I've been waiting for this update, this forum delivers anything from 30 to 50 emails a day to my iphone and having to delete each mail one by one is annoying to say the least.

Not being able to show powerpoint presentations is also a bit of a mare if i'm out and about.

But both of those will be sorted with the new software release.

I would also like to see.....a better firmware for the camera.....thats useless!

DF - You can get internet while your out of your house?

DF - You can get internet while your out of your house?

iphone = internet out of house
office pc = internet out of the house

hell....if the need arises i'll even use a net cafe and thats very much out of the house.

It's a great big world out there......maybe you should go take a peek, I can vouch for the quality of the cake shops

I went out today, was the longest i've stayed out for photography. Okay, Rural norfolk with a net cafe? there isn't even any cafes around here

Lots of Traaaa'tors though.

I still say a phone should be for phoning people! (says he playing sudoku on the work phone...)

i heard a rumour, though that we might get a major discount (i.e. free) on the new iphone on July 11th, so long as we sign up to a new 18 month contract

i cant see a contract with unlimited 3G being being £35 a month, though

I'd heard there would be a discounted upgrade route....can't see it being anywhere near free myself.

Nokia N95. ;)

Why would i want a fone that locks up at every opportunity?

I had a N73 which used the same software.....it was a nightmare until the firmware was upgraded.

I also have a dislike of slide phones ;)

Well if we're gonna talk antiques! ;)

Incidentally if anyone is after an absolute bargain bit of gear, grab one of these while you can. They've been discontinued - hence the price.

CLICKY

I was talking matt C earlier about phones and I prefer the N82 to the others, especially with the GPS suite, i could use that on my bike :D

I just upgraded to the N95 8gb. Still getting me 'ead round it. :D

Hmmm, I have still to claim insurance on my iphone which I dropped in the bath two months ago. I have been without a mobile since due to me enjoying the break!

I think rather than claim I will get the iPhone v2, when is it released here?

Gary.

just finished watching the movie of the Steve Jobs presentation.
I got it wrong, its not actually an iphone 2, its an iphone 3G. its the almost the same phone (slightly smaller) but with 3G and GPS and the price knocked down and version 2.0 software (which you can use on iphone 2G too)
There are some good games coming out for it too. They have some really good graphics (for a phone) and you tilt and move the phone to control the game.

I know about us having the V2 software around June 27th which will bring mass mail delete and push email , but I don't think we'll get 3g aswell :( and we also won't have the gps.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about! I still use an NEC P3 phone and an apple is something I eat!! ;)

And yes it is an old phone, i had mine for about five even six years before i wanted to get another one. The screen started to go. But i blinking love them phones. Easy to use, and used to love playing snakes on it on the way home from school.

Yup, can't wait.

The productivity increase from having the iPhone alone was worth the initial cost, but getting the 3G with GPS etc as a free upgrade is awesome. They've also added BT Openzone coverage to back up the Cloud access as well.

MobileME looks quite cool as well (although I think I'll robably end up writing my own app to handle all that).

I registered on the O2 website first thing this morning when it went live for my upgrade. Roll on July 11th :D

(definately gonna get the 16GB one, but why does it have to be WHITE?"

o2 texted me today
iphone customers get the new iphone for free if they sign up to £45 a month contract, or £100 on £30 or £35 contract (without waiting for their old contract to finish)
probably can sell the old iphone for £100 on ebay, so its all good.
still no video camera, though, but with GPS, 3G and muliple e-mail delete thats nearly all the probs sorted :) cant wait!

I haven't had the text yet, but i've registered on the O2 site

I need to calculate my minute usage carefully, at the moment I don't use the full 600 mins so it'd be cheaper to buy the new phone and stay on the 35 contract.

But.....If I become a gossip I can move up to the 45 contract and double the mins while getting the phone for free

On top of that I'll be able to sell my iphone to recover some cash :)

GPS is handy for when i'm out and about on my bike, and the mass mail delete is long overdue.
I hope that the new phone will support mms text messaging too as part of the 3G package. I still get people sending images to me via mms and it's a pita to have to go onto O2 to view them.

It's a new phone - get over it, and don't get caught in the marketing hype :)

My old Nokia has had 3G for 2 years...

viewty. nuff said. apple G1 iphone - fail

I'm considering switching from my Blackberry. Partly to get better reception in my house - T-Mobile is great everywhere in my village except my house :( And partly to make good use of mobileme. I already use .mac syncing between three computers and the changes to .mac, to make it mobileme, are quite significant.

I don't give a damm about the camera - or the lack of video. I wish it didn't have a camera.

I've had the text :)

I think I'm going to up my contract now to 45 quid, get the fone free and then drop back to 35 in 6 months.

free type of Ky with every contract!:|

you keep telling yourself that the viewty you contaminate your pocket with cuts the mustard.

mind you......your battery life must be fantastic, the thing is never turned on !!!

Hmm, the gits are offering free upgrades on the £45 tariff or £99 on the £35 tariff which means I will doubtless end up with one :)

Had the N73, N80 and a load of previous smartphones before and to be honest they were less than hopeless. Been happy with the iPhone since day one and still use it fully today :)
