I've just got my new DSLR ( Canon 400d ) and still haven't a clue what to do with it.

i've taken a picture i like of my daughter, but i know it's rough as.........(the facial expression is funny, from a family point of veiw)

I've still to get Phototshop, and even when i do, i haven't a clue what to do! Is there anything that can be done to rescue this picture

I'm sure someone else with better Photoshop skills will be along but in the meantime... I think the white balance is wrong(this is my fav thing to get wrong at the moment:bonk-if you have a look in your menus you should be able to alter it for appropriate conditions.In this case probably tungsten.(don't forget to change it afterwards) The picure itself isn't very sharp but it could be "sharpened" up to a point in PS or similar so that it would appear less so.

There are free alternatives to Photoshop that you can download from the web,Gimp or Picasa are 2 which spring to mind although I have no experience of either.
