Hello

Hi and welcome

Thank you....now I just need to get started:lol:

so whos going to point me in the right direction?

Er..... Try ----> that way :D

What you do want to know? Don't say "how to use the camera" :)

 Well I did say I was learning!!!

Is there a thread on here for specific cameras ie mine? my heads a whirl with all the info.....

or somewhere for beginners to the SLR world perhaps, so as not to embarrass oneself!!

Um... if it's general photography talk, then it goes in "talk photography"

If it's camera, lens or accessory related... it goes in "cameras, lenses and accessories"

etc etc :D

Just put whatever you want to say in the best catagory you can find, the mods are pretty friendly most of the time and will just move it for you if it's in the wrong place :D

As for your avatar.... I'm guessing Kent somewhere :D

Thank you....

I had the camera for 5 months before moving into the creative zone! Have been having some tuition and now am eager to put it into practice

hello ladypitstop...have you had your camera long? Ive just peeped in your gallery. You have some fantastic photos.

Hi KG - aww thanks :)

I got my camera last June and have been addicted ever since :D and have been inspired and gained so much knowledge from this wonderful forum!

Just keep snapping away and experimenting - it's the only way to get to know what the camera can actually do and have fun.

Did you have any knowledge of SLR photography before buying your canon?

Hey if you want to see some more pics from the 400D i've been doing some Macro work recently here

Most of it is with the Kit Lens too :)

No, didn't have a clue and still don't really, most of my photos are trial and error :D but getting there I think! Have a read of the manual - I know it's boring but it's quite informative :)

DITTO!!!!! lol couldn't agree more.

Very nice....the egg shells are cracking!

Do you not upload onto the gallery here then?
What other macro lens have you got?

mmm...yawn....

I bought a book....by James Beattie & Tracy Hallet The Pip expanded guide to the eos 400D....so much nicer to read. Colour pics and larger type!!

No I tend to upload to photobucket (others use Flickr too) as I can use the direct link it makes to post the images here in my posts and also on my photography blog where I post stuff I learn and get up to since I started.

Its nice to upload your images to a gallery but keep them backed up too!

On the books issue, can't say I read a lot of books about photography. I read a lot online...hence why im here and I also post questions too.

The internet is a marvel lol Youll quickly find that posting your photos and getting feedback from others is the quickest way to learn!

On the Macro. I use the Kit lens normally with the Raynox MSN 202 Macro Lens universal fit. Basically clips to the end of the lens. Lots of people use different attachments/filters etc to enhance all sorts of things. There are some excellent Macro photographers here Ajophotog helped me out a lot. But so has everyone. Its a great place to learn.
