Ive just joined a moment ago and thought Id say Hi.

I'm Kira and I'm 23

Absolutely LOVE photography but Im having a bit of a downer as I've just realised I know absolutely nothing!

I have always been intrested in photography and so I bought a canon 400D a while ago. I used to take photos using just normal little digital cameras but wanted to really get better which is why I bought the canon.
Now recently I have really been trying to up my game and ive been reading the manual but still don't seem to understand much about my camera and all the tricks of taking a decent photo!

I see wonderful photos and it upsets me as they're taken on cameras I could never afford!

I just wondered if there is anyone that can help with any tips at all?

I have 3 lenses. an 18-55mm a 28-90mm and an 80-200mm which I have just odered but haven't received yet.

I want to take lovely crisp images but I seen to have trouble with my focusing and more than not my image blurs slightly, I just can never get it right!!

Arrhhh!

Kira,

read through some of the posts, and practice. We all have off periods and lousy days when nothing comes together. All it takes is practice, the best in the world still practice and may take 100 shots to get the one they use so donot worry.

Oh and welcome to TP a nice and friendly place to be.

Pete

Welcome to TP Kira

I was in exactly the same place as you just a year ago. I had a 450D, no DSLR experience, no real photography experience, but bags of enthusiasm.

I joined TP and read up as much of basic principles of photography as I could take in at any one time and went out and practised.

We all ask the same sort of questions when starting out, so I searched on here for answers to questions that had been posed by people that were just starting on the learning curve.

Where there weren't the answers to the questions I had, I posted on here and because they are a friendly bunch, I got the answers I needed to go out and practise again.

I plucked up the courage to post some pics on here to ask for critisism and critique and I have learned from the advice given.

I am still very much on the learning curve but thanks to practice and the help of the good people on here, I think I have come quite a long way in one year.

My advice would be dont try to learn everything at once. Practice with your camera, show the results and ask for advice on how to improve

Hi Kira,

This is the place to be.. The information on here is the best, and best of all you can buy good kit from the members with the confidence that you are not being ripped off.

Hello Kira,

Welcome to the Forum. Really nice and helpful *** here. I joined around 10 days back and there is so much you can learn from the guru's :)

There is a lot of material on the Technical forum that can help you.

Come on this forum every day for a couple of weeks, have a good read and you'll learn loads very quickly. Keep getting out there with your camera to practice and you'll see your skills improve very quickly.

I was using a point and shoot 4 years ago and knew nothing of shutter speeds and apertures. I now have 2 DSLRs and 3 decent lenses and tonnes more knowledge than I did even 12 months ago. I'm still pretty near the bottom of the learning curve but TP and it's wonderful members aer certainly helping me climb that curve.

Welcome to the forum!!
