Hi all

I've been lurking around the site for a while now so thought it was about time I took the plunge and signed up.

This is the first photography forum I've registered with (and now used). I picked it because it seemed to have a healthy mix of very new DSLR users, skilled amateurs and also professionals giving a nice rounded opinion on the whole;).

I've always liked photography and bought my first DSLR 3 years ago, a D40x. In the last year I've enrolled in a couple of photography courses. They've really ignited a passion. During a workshop about 3 weeks ago my D40x died which gave me a watertight excuse to upgrade to a D7000 - what a camera!

I've only just started using raw and I'm just beginning to get my head around PSE.

Having browsed hundreds of brilliant pics on this site I'm going to get an enormous amount of inspiration for my own photography.

I hope you guys will be able to help improve my skills with some (gentle) critique & guidance.

Here's my flickr p'stream

Cheers

Mark

Your skills look fine to me Mark. Nice images in there.

Hi Mark, welcome on board. Like you I'm fairly new here myself and have found a whole host of good advice from all over the forum.

Cheers chaps.

Yep, the D40x was a top little starter DSLR. It did me proud for a good while.

It gave up the ghost after a hard day of continuous shooting in burst mode. Poor little thing just froze. No amount of battery swapping or shouting profanity directly at it helped.

I'd loved to have found out how many actuations it coped with before it died. I reckon about 25,000.

Yeah i've never understood why the profanity thing doesn't work:thinking: Makes you feel better though. :D
