Yes
This may be a really stupid question but I'm thinking of getting a Lencarta SmartFlash 2 to add to a couple of speedlites in a (very basic) home studio setup. What are the options for triggering the SmartFlash? I'm triggering the speedlites with a couple of cheap yongnuo radio triggers. Would that work with the SmartFlash or would I need a dedicated transmitter or use a cable or something else?

The lencarta head can be triggered 3 ways

Direct by wire
Wireless (using triggers)
Optically (via one of your speedlights)

Which you choose boils down to preference. I would probably go for 2nd or 3rd option.

Does the trigger need to be a compatible one or would any trigger that works on a speedlite also work on the lencarta head?

What model of yongnuo triggers are you using at the moment?
Whatever they are replicate it by another 1.

I don't have them with me to double-check but they're relatively old (several years).

We have our Wavesync unit, consisting of a transmitter and receiver, I would normally say that this is the best choice because it provides full remote control as well as radio triggering.
But not in your case, because it has a USB fitting and so won't fire your speedlights.

Literally any radio trigger set will work, as long as the receiver has the standard 3.5mm jack plug that will fit into both (most) speedlights and the SmartFlash.

Cheers Garry.

I've also been looking at your beginner studio kits but thought i'd start off trying to use the speedlites. If I understand correctly a 3rd flash head can be used with the kit setup in the future if I do go that route.
