Hi, I've been looking at a bunch of forums, and joined some, but this one seems to cover the broad spectrum I'm interested in (ie not exclusively digital). I'm currently reviving my interest in photography, being officially retired (unofficially I'm still doing some consulting, but that's another story). My photographic life in terms of gear has been:
- Werra 1 (East German Zeiss p&s) as a 21st birthday present
- succession of Pentax Spotmatics and a Pentax ME in the 1970s-80s on (still have the Pentax ME, started using it again)
- family-oriented p&s, including the wonderful Mamiya U, before I bought a damaged Olympus mju in 42nd St, NY, from a conman, as a present for my wife
.
- Sony DSC-P200 (really liked this, until I dropped it on a tiled floor)
- Canon Ixus 210, seemed like a good idea and a wonderful carry-anywhere camera, but truly dreadful CA, and zero control
- Fuji X10, which I love, and which is on the list for de-orbing end of May (I've only ever had orbs when I've provoked it!).
I've also scanned around half the slides and negatives I've ever taken on a Plustek 7500i with Silverfast SE, as part of a personal voyage of remembering what I did (amazing what you can learn, trying to locate, date and name individuals in old photos... for example, I was certain my current Pentax ME was the first SLR I bought, in Singapore in August 1971, but have clear evidence that camera was a black Spotmatic, and later evidence that I had an Electro Spotmatic!). OK, this makes me a bit OCD, I realise!
I meant to (and ranout of time but may still) try to show some images from these cameras, which will show I'm still needing to learn a great deal as a photographer. I'm hoping you guys can help me there... Thanks for reading.
