Evening all.

I'm branching out into Motorsport photography. I want to shoot mainly cars at tracks such as snetterton, Cadwell and silverstone. Can anyone recommend a lens? Budget of £600 max.

Thanks

Phil

With this budget I would go for a second hand Sigma 2.8 D.APO- HSM 70-200mm.
Great lens.! Almost regret that i trade it in for a 2.8 VII Nikon 70-200mm.
Extreme fast and acurate focus. Tack sharp!

Thanks Robert. However I was shooting with a Tamron 70-300 at snetterton last weekend and I was at 300mm all day. I don't think I can lose zoom as I have no intention of getting trackside as media.

Tamron 150-600 vc?

For motorsport I'm not a fan of close up shots so i found my 50-140 was adequate for Silverstone. Depends on your style.

The Tamron is slightly out of my budget. Possible too big aswell.

I like the look of the sigma lens'
100-300mm or 120-400. Anyone with any knowledge on these?

The sigma 100-300 f4 is a great lens, although a bit harder to find now... As minnnt says, it does depend on your style as to what focal length you need, most people starting out do want frame fillers and this tails off the more you do... You're going to have to deal with fences at some point either way so try and get the fastest lens you can to be able to blur out wire.. F4 or better still 2.8 will be a big help

Thank you. I have gone for a 300mm f4. High end of my budget but I've been advised spend cheap spend more.

Thanks for your help!
