Newbie Kit - Table Top Tripod

Hey guys & gals

I'm brand new to this photography game but definitely getting right into it. Just trying to refrain myself from buying everything I see, since buying my D80.

What I'm looking for is recommendations for a table top tripod to start my collection of gear.

Your help and any other recommendations use have for a newbie's gear collection is much appreciated.

How about a Gorillapod DSLR, they seem to have come right down in price recently

Be careful about the size of the Gorillapod. The one that ASDA have for £19 seems to be the Gorillapod SLR, which will take an SLR but not a large lens. The Gorillapod SLR Zoom is a heavier-duty version.

A third vote for the Gorrillapod - get the large one just to be extra-stable.

How stable is the Gorillapod really?

I'm thinking about getting the SLR-Zoom model but I don't know anyone who's used one for more than a P&S, would be used to support a gripped 350D with 10-22 or 85/1.8
