Hi everyone.

My name is Sam. I'm married with 2 daughters, Anara who's 1yr and Rheya who is 3yrs.

I've been into photography for a few years but haven't done much serious photography since my first daughter came along.

I've been thinking about turning my hobby into my job. I've been looking for courses but with only one wage coming in at the moment and 2 small mouths to feed, I can't really stretch to the tuition fees so I'm going to do a bit of self teaching and hope you guys can help me along the way :)

Anyway that's the basics. I hope I didn't bore you :)

Hi Sam, welcome. Good luck with your plans. You've come to the right place for advice/help - loads of great people here.

Hello Sam

I'm not that long here myself.

There's a lot to be said for self-teaching! Practice, practice, practice... but it's not so easy when you've kids to raise!

Check out Amazon for secondhand photo publications. I'm just an amateur myself but over decades I've found photo books by really experienced SLR photographers (both film and digital) to be the most dependable source of information. There are some good professional websites too where you can find a lot of practical info on the basics and more advanced techniques. Learning how to properly edit/manipulate images is very important too.

Anyway, I hope you're successful. Good luck!

Sam

Thanks. I've got a few books here already and a ton of magazines, all of which I've not read properly.
