Hi everyone, only discovered this forum last week and haven’t been off it since, it’s an excellent source of information from a friendly bunch, can’t wait to learn more and be part of it.

I currently have a Nikon D3000 with the following lenses:
Nikon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6
Nikon 50mm f1.4 (fitted with a UV filter)
Nikon 55-200mm f/4.-5.6 (fitted with a UV filter)
Also have a Giottos MTL 9251b Tripod with MH 5011 Head
2 different Lowepro bags
Plus a Joby Gorilla Pod
Oh, and a spare battery.

Had the camera 2 years now and although I’ve made it out of Auto mode (I usually shoot in Aperture priority and occasionally Shutter priority) I’ve still got a lot to learn. My latest purchase was my 50mm f1.4G which I love to bits, I can’t believe how much it has taught me about depth of field in a very short time.

My main interests are photographing my 2 kids (age 2 & 4) as well as cars and landscapes. Plus I got into taking pictures of fellow members competing for my local running club, but this was only because I had a stress fracture at the time and so couldn’t run myself!

Oh and my friend of mine has asked me to shot his wedding in December so this has certainly given me motivation to fill in the gaps in my knowledge and push myself to learn, something I’ve been putting off due to being ‘too busy’.

I’ve booked myself in for the beginners dSLR course at the Photography Studio in Newcastle at the end of January and although I think I have already taught myself some of the basics there is nothing like spending some hands on time with somebody who knows what they are doing to give me a good basis to work from. It’s a one day intensive course which suits me best due to the contract work I do.

Looking forward to posting up some pictures soon from a bit of constructive criticism.

I spend a fair amount of time in your neck of the woods as GF is from Gateshead. Great photo ops along the Northumberland coast..

Anyhow im sure you will get loads of information and support as the forum seems to be a really freindly place.

Done, I'm another Steve! Thanks for the Welcome.

Yes the Northumberland Coast is lovely, but the North Yorkshire Moors are on my doorstep as I live on the south side of Middlesbrough. That said I'm never too far from Gateshead as I work in Wallsend and have a lovely commute up and down the A19 everyday!
