Good Afternoon All

Just wanted to introduce myself :) ... My name is Louise and I live in Northants.

I am a complete newbie when it comes to cameras and photography, I have always wanted to take good photos of my art peices but over the last few months I have been stopping and looking at things ive never noticed before and they have made me feel like they should be captured for all to see for being so interesting, breath taking and some times even emotional images.

Alittle more about me... although I dont want to bore you all

I am a glass bead artist and Jewellery Maker in my spare time and a up and comming HR professional during the day.

I have never used anything other than a cheapy point and shot and I am itching to buy myself a entry level camera (maybe even this week).

I look forward to getting to know some of you and joining in with your forum.

Thank You
Louise

p.s. if anyone has any suggestions on the best camera im all ears :D (I've been looking at the Lumix G3 or Sony A35 but I honestly do not have a clue what im even looking for)

Hi Louise and welcome, Im in Northants also so good to see another local member among us.

Again it depends on what you want to spend and how serious you want to get with it. Although the Sony cameras are slightly cheaper you will find that the accesories like remote flash leads and remote shutter release are on the market but not as easy to get your hands on as say Nikon or Canon stuff

Hi Louise and welcome, can I recommend you might want to take a trip to Skears Photographic along Wellingborough Road in Northampton. They are a great independent camera shop and i'm sure they will be able to give you loads of help and advice on suitable camera's.

Is that the one near the sainsburys Bridget?

I may take a trip down there this week actually, beats going to jessops for everything

LOL yep but then Jessops don't take much beating. Still Steve and most of the staff in Skears seem to know there stuff so worth checking them out.

Thanks for the replies :)

I might have to take a trip over thanks for the advice.

I really only looking for hobby reasons I just want to develop slowly and help me with creative staging, it would also be very helpful for my online glass bead shop which would also be a bonus, as my photos at the moment are shameless :(

My budget is under £500, and im looking to be able to take photo's of close up glass items and wide landscape.

I appriciate your welcomes and I look forward to working my way around the forum and joining in :)

Well, you've certainly flushed out the Northamptonites.
Still, if they were in Kettering they would probably all be related.:)

Welcome and best of luck with your choice - careful if you get the bug, it can get expensive!

One tip - try out some camera choices, some will seem more logical to you than others.

Hi Louise and Welcome!

Another vote here for Skears, The guy's are running the shop because they love photography, not for the sake of selling anything and everything.

They carry a fair amount of used lenses and bodies which would get you up and running and save you some £££ which will stay in your purse for approximately 5 mins before you're bitten by the bug of needing something else

Enjoy!

Hello Louise,
Welcome from another newbie! Good luck in your camera quest. There are some nice ones about in your price range. If you have the opportunity to handle different cameras, I would suggest that you do so, as there is bound to be one or more that you feel more comfortable with. Whether it be size, weight or simple ergonomics.
