Hi,

My names Dean and I've only had my first DSLR for about a month now. I'm the kind of guy who once he decides he's going to do something puts all his effort into it and I have to say this Photography lark is rather consuming me (not to mention making me rather skint!)

About to start a course this Thursday which should help me along a bit but hoping to learn loads from what looks to be a rather informative forum!

Can't wait to meet up with some of you in the future and to hear any advice (criticisms!) you might have for me when I post some pics soon.

Dean

Hi Keith,

Anythinhg nice to photo in Wilburton?

(I should explain that I've only lived in this area for 1 1/2 years so don't know it that well!)

So what are your interests then? We shall have to arrange for a meet up at some point.

I also note that you are also a Nikon.

'Ello Dean.. I can highly recommend Ely Cathedral for a days shooting, just make sure you request the gift aid ticket so you can go back all year on the same ticket.

Yes I am a Nikon!!

Yeah it'll be good to meet some like-minded people and go on some shoots. I am still very much at the learning stage so every time I meet someone with an interest in Photography I'm like a sponge sucking up information!! I'm doing a Advanced Creative Photography evening course and apparently I'm very creative in that I can see in my minds eye what photo I'd like to take but at the moment I simply don't have the immediate knowledge to know how to take said shot! My interests are mostly Landscape and Portrate / Model shoots but as I say at the moment I'm at the honeymoon stage and taking shots of everything I think is interesting!!

Hi Aastair,

I have been to the cathedral a few times but there’s renovation work being done at the moment and scaffolding all over it so it doesn't take a very good picture. I will go down there soon once it's all done!

Hi Ian,

I love Cambridge! I've only lived in the area for about 1 1/2 years so don't know the ins and outs but Cambridge is certainly one of my favourite places so far. Walked around a few weeks ago but it's always difficult to get good shots during the day with all the tourists in the way! I ended up taking loads of random shots of things people probably don't even notice when they're walking around like church gardens etc

Would love to arrange (or be part of) a local meet at some point to bounce ideas and get more technical! Very new to Photographic forums so not sure if "meets" is the done thing but it's something we used to do in the car forums all the time...

Hi Dean,

Welcome to the forum. I'm also an Ely boy so if there's enough of us we should have a little meet sometime.

Where are you doing your course? Is it in Ely?

Matt

I would definately be up for a meet. I'm self taught so far so would be great to swap tips and experiences as well as good local locations

Hi Matt,

Yeah it's in the College on the Downham Road. Every Thursday.

Yeah I'd definately be up for this. Still very new to all this (although I'm learning fast!) and would love to find some decent scenery locally.

Lets get it done!! (I feel another thread coming on!)
