Hi all,

I've just joined up so thought I should say hello!

I'm from Cornwall in the U.K, and I've been taking pics for a couple of years now, I know absolutely NOTHING about the theory behind photography or what all the settings and numbers mean etc so thought I should probably try and find out!

I use a Canon 450D which I've had for around 7 years, I never really used it for the first 5 years or so but in the last couple of years I've had to get into taking pics as it's part of my job so it's been used a LOT since then, as a result it's now pretty beaten up and if I'm honest I don't really look after it very well, but even so it's been remarkably reliable! 99% of my pics are taken on beaches etc so it's full of sand and grit yet it's never let me down, until recently! I've noticed that it's refusing to focus in the usual mode I use (TV), it does this with both lenses I have so I'm assuming it's the body rather than the lenses, any hints as to what could be causing this would be appreciated! I've considered buying a new body quite a lot over the past year or so but to be honest I'm fairly pleased with the pics I'm taking so thought that rather than buy a newer body that I'd have to be more precious about, I'd be better off sticking with the 450D. I used the standard lens that came with the camera up until about 3-4 months ago when I bought a Sigma 10-20mm which I've been using pretty much exclusively ever since.

I also read that I should be cleaning the 'sensor' at least once a week, well I've NEVER cleaned mine, I don't even know what or where the sensor is! So any help with that would be appreciated :D

Anyway, I'm off to have a read around, just thought I'd introduce myself first! :D
