Newbie flash question - SB600

Got an SB600 on Saturday and I've just had a go at firing it off camera with my D90. I can set the menu to commander mode but I'm not sure how I control the strength of off camera flash and on camera flash to trigger. I tried decreasing the power of the pop up flash and I think that affected the SB600?

I've had a look at the manual but its just confusing me. Any help or pointers to useful, easy to understand, websites?

I know this is a really basic question and I'll be fine once I get the hang of it, just totally new to flash photography and keen to learn.

you should be able through the d90 , but in the short term try using the settings on the flash. i`m not sure about this as i use the sb800 and sb900

Check these video tutorials out Lynn.....Episodes 4; 5 and 6 they cover the SB800 and 900 not sure if the the 600 has similar features to the 800.
