Edit My Images
Yes
Hi. I'm just back from NYC and have discovered when I've transferred my photos to the laptop that they are 'raw' files. I attempted to convert them to jpeg but lose the quality of the images. Can anyone give any advice on how to do this without losing the quality.
Thanks

What kind of camera is it and what software are you using?

HI Lorna, and welcome to the forum. I guess a lot depends on whether this is something that you are likley to be wanting to do regularly. If it is then perhaps you should consider somthing light Adobe Lightroom. A subscription purchase model makes it not that expensive and you can convert from raw to jpg very easily as well as manage a whole heap of photo editing and correction using the same programme. What camera have you got? Is it new? If so did it come with any software? Most will include a branded programme for this conversion which would be a no-cost option but usually more limited in regard to editing afterwards.

If you're not interested in any post editing and correction then probably best to set your camera to take pictures in jpg format from the start. Almost all that offer raw will also offer the option to take jpegs

I'm sure others will be along with more sugestions.

Cheers

You will need to edit the images after conversion to help with the quality as RAW unedited files look slightly flat.
