New zoom lens, advice required

Id like to purchase a better lens than the one I have, one with better zoom capabilities.

Id like to keep the price down and have been looking at the Canon 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6

Any thoughts?

Just the kit lens im afraid, Ive been out and about recently and been getting frustrated at the zoom capabilities, I want something with a little more reach
 
wow £110 for a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro lens is a great price i've seen them go for nearly that second hand, i'm having one of them :)
 
I don't think you;d be disappointed. I bought mine originally for my speedway stuff (prior to getting my mitts on the 70-200 :love:), used it regularly, and often in low light, for some time, and loved it. The shot below was taken using it

I still have the lens now - although its mainly in the custody of the other half - and still use it quite often.
 
Thanks! :) Yes - my standard set up probably (although I've not checked the exif) - f4, 1.200th, flash - possibly under by a stop, although thinking back to the point I took that shot, probably at full power. I live for the summer months wen we can get almost an entire meeting without having to resort to the dreaded flashguns. We don;t have much choice but to use them otherwise, but none of us like them much.
 
Speaking as someone who has owned both the Canon 90-300mm and the Sigma 70-300mm (both at the same time for a while) I'd advise you to go for the Sigma:thumbs: For a budget telephoto it's probably the best out there and beats the Canon 90-300mm hands down. Make sure you get the APO version and you'll be very happy with it;)
 
I've been looking at the sigma lens too, got the 400D with kits lens at the moment and looking for the extra reach too. Not wanting to spend too much to start with it looks like from what I have read on these forums this is the best option. Has anyone had any dealings with onestop? Really good price for this lens.

I've not dealt with OneStop myself, but have heard good reports.

Ordered my sigma 70-300 apo from onestop last Tuesday, it was in Manchester by Thursday evening, held up in customs but a few calls to fedex solved it and it arrived yesterday :) . Not had chance to give it a good test yet but I will at weekend.
 
i've just bought a sigma 70-300 apo from onestop, no problems with customs or anything and only took 3 days to arrive :thumbs:
