Hi all,
So having getting my Nikon D7500 I thought it’s time to get another lens for it,
I mainly shoot night photos in town etc..
And was looking for another wide angle lens,
I currently have a Tamron SP 10-24mm Di2,
I’m not really happy with that lens as it seems to me like it’s real soft on the edges and overall not sharp in the full image,
Find myself having to use my 18-55 to get the kind of wide aspect as I just don’t like using the Tamron it’s ruining my photos,
I’d usually shoot at F8 with this lens at night,
Can anyone recommend me a good lens that would be better than the Tamron I have ?
Maybe a prime wide or a zoom wide angle ?
It’s for my aps-c D7500,
Thinking maybe Samyang 14mm or the Tokina 11-16mm,
Ideally my budget is around £250-300 but could be stretched maybe a little more for the right lens,
Appreciate any advice,
I’m no expert by any means I’m merely still a beginner at this,
So any tips from experienced togs would be a real help,
I will upload a couple of photos taken with th said Tamron lens,
Except from the lens flare I’m not sure what to think,
Would it be worth upgrading lenses or am I not using it properly,
Thank you.

I have an oldish Tamron 14mm f/2.8 which is sharp enough all round and will AF and be automatic aperture on your Nikon (IIRC the Samyang is MF and manual aperture [but reports the aperture to Nikons]). The Sigma 10-20 is another Dx zoom that seems to give good results - some people reckon the older, variable max aperture version is better than the newer f/3.5 version and will be cheaper 2nd hand.

I have a IRIX 15mm f2.4 and its a very nice lens, currently there are 2 different lens but they are both the same optically, its just that one is better weather sealed and made with a alloy body and the other is more plasticy but dont let that put you off.
The one I have is the plasticy one,
its the Firefly and it can take a gel filter at the rear of the lens and also a 95mm dia normal filter at the front.
Currently on evilbay I have seen one new at £388.
Hope that helps.

I have the Tokina and it suffers massively with lens flare which in som instances can be very annoying.

The Tokina 12-24 f/4 is a decent lens if you don't need f/2.8 and quiet a bit cheaper than the 11-16mm, the 2x zoom range is also more useful than the 11-16.

There are 2 versions with and without a focus motor, if you have a focus motor in your D7500 you can buy either version.
