any chance of some comment on a new webby I've just put up, still a bit of work to do, but interested if theres too much on there, not enough, obvious enough to navigate, do you notice theres more down the page, or theres more pages in each section? etc etc

cheers!

To me, all the fonts sizes are too regular.
either larger, or better styles depicting the different sections, all the text on the right was just a mess to me, I didn't have a starting/opening point to know whether I wanted to read the rest.
Also the " thomas angus photography " link isn't active on the blog section, so no way of returning home.
All seems good though, quite a clean layout.

Love the site Thomas. Some cracking images there.Wish i could be as good one day...:)

Cheers Wigster,

I had this comment before and it turned out the stylesheet wasn't rendering correctly, I'd love to see a grab of how it's rendering on yours, although I realise how cheeky that is..
I seem to remember there is an app online somewhere that outputs your url and spits out a screenshot on various os and browser variations, so maybe ill try ande hunt that down, as i suspect that's the err.

the top nav on the blog is generated by wordpress, hence it's a tiny bit different to the main site, I've yet to work out how to make it link =]

the fonts should be fairly non invasive and generic though as that was the plan, I didn't want to have a design or any design really, it needed to be the photos that stood out, everything else is just information and directions.

thanks again for the great feedback,
t

Looks good to me Thomas. Sticking to one font and not too many different styles is better and less distracting. Less is always more with web pages and yours are clear and simple.

Your work is fabulous, so that's the hardest bit sorted!

I like a clean looking website, but yours is almost too clean. On the home page, I was waiting for something else to load, but it didn't. Your name at the top isn't prominent enough to me, and with text dotted about with no lines, or seperation, it looks a little empty. I think that's what I was waiting to load - lines, boxes, or something. Not sure if that is making sense.

Very easy to navigate, but why do some of the pictures at the bottom of the pages act as clickable (like on the home page, or in Studio), where as in the Automotive section they don't?

Also, looking at it again, I'd like to know something about Thomas Angus, rather than only seeing testimonials.

This feedback is great cheers!
some stuff isn't clickable yet as well, it's still a work in progress and it's just literally not in yet, the alt tags should say what is or isn't yet// but yes the inconsistency needed flagging, and has reminded me to get on it,
also the info, yes, I wasn't really sure how to sell myself on that front so let others do it, I have more populated info on things like linkdin which are all accesable via the links at the bottom, but yes they really are not that obvious...
I find myself cringing when reading bios on other togs, they're generally so painful that I just couldn't face doing the same thing without realising..

Some serif fonts might go nicely for the titles but otherwise this is a top-drawer site featuring some brilliant, brilliant commercial and fashion stuff.

Photography is great. Web site does look a bit clinical. but the others have said whats to do about that.

Only thing that is wrong to me is all the varied work you have up.

Sports/Auto/Advertising/Tourism etc...

You should never really do more than 2. You are diluting your site and clients who want a specific type of work from you will not be trawling through all the titles.... Believe me, been there.

For example with us. We have one site that shows Weddings and studio family work. We have one that specialises in schools and another that does my personnel arty farty stuff.

Sounds like a head ache but it's not meant too.

Say BMW came heard about you. they would go take a gander at your site before contact. but wont want to look at all the stuff. They dont have time.

When you get sorted decide on what you want to shoot most or get the clients from. Then spred your wings out from there.

But I really like your work looks the business. Your corperate stuff could well and easy sell on stock sites too. As with the down turn in the acconomy Companies are cutting back on their total spends and using more stock. so a mate who runs a stock agency tells me......

Who knows. Wish you all the best.

Thanks Daryl,

Well that's the thing, as the years have gone by, one thing will develop nicely and I end up doing primarily one thing for a while, then something else will pop up in a quiet time, so I'll do that, I draw the line at weddings, and some events work, just out of personal preference, but really in this trade I've figured it would never pay to be too choosey...
But yes, you are right... the things is there are several disciplines I do that aren't even up there! that's already a much reduced output.

I'm also casting a wider net as having just got back to the UK after a long while away I'm hearing horrible things about the state of the industry, but overheads here are heavy, so a big net it is in the hope to catch at least some fish.

Also I've always enjoyed a variety of work, keeps me thinking.
But yes maybe I need to buy some more urls, and spend even longer nailing some more sites together, but my word personal sites take time, and time as a freelancer is an expensive thing..

cheers again, keep it coming! =]
