New visitor seeks ideas

I found this site via an app on my iPad and have taking great pleasure from it over the past couple of weeks. Although not a complete newbie to photography, I am not producing the images that are on display here. My hardware is:

Nikon D7000 and D90 the latter will be up for sale soon I suspect.
Nikon 18-200 lens
Tamron 70-300 lens
Tamron macro lens
SB600 flash

So today the heavens have opened and I am stuck in doors and looking for ideas to pass the time with the camera. Ideas for macro images but please remember I don't have luxury of external lighting, backdrops or reflectors.

Finally - is there tutorials for creating an avatar and uploading images?

Hi Stephen and welcome to TP.

Not the best weather for outdoor macro - esp. at this time of year.

Click on the help command at the top of the page for the tutorials. It's all there.

You may find it convenient to use online storage (eg Photobucket) for your pics since there is no constraint on file sizes when you post (max longest side of 800 pixels still applies).
