My nice new 40D has arrived :D Its so much heavier than the old p&s and seems quite rubbery as well, a totally different feel to it so it will be interesting to see what its like when I get used to it. Not the sort of thing that fits in a handbag for everyday use thats for sure.

So far I have managed to charge the battery, put it and a memory card in and set the date without breaking anything  but its going to be Saturday before I get a possible chance to play with it as I leave and get home to/from work in the dark.
At least I get a chance to read some of the instruction manual, there are a hell of a lot of settings on there though, its like looking at the controls of a jet plane after driving a mini!! Just hope Sunday is a decent day for going out to play as my patience will be sorely tested if I have to wait much longer!

Well if you don't think your'll like it I'll PM you my address I will even pay the postage ( if pushed)
Have fun & enjoy
The 40D is next on my "must have" list too.
I'm not quite sure whether Santa will manage one though

No way

I guarentee, the dog/cat, sofa + misc family member, car, garage and garden/washing line will have posed loooong before Saturday..:)

edit* you will shoot your feet also

I had the same problem last year p&s upgrade to a 350d great fun
look forward to seeing your pic's .

Congrats on the new baby!

I remember when I upgraded from a p&s to the 5D,
the first thing I thought on picking it up was 'Will I ever get used to the weight'
Dont worry you soon do ... ahhh! & then you start whacking big heavy lenses on :D

I've had mine for a few months now. I love it and I'm pretty sure you will too.

Well I have started going through some of the settings, but I think auto will be on for a while!!

Well its 2 years supply of birthday and christmas presents, plus sorting out a load of paperwork, but I think it will be worth it once I figure it out.

Well so far I have never managed a picture of my feet (unless it was deliberate!) I will try to make it a good one if I do though!

Not sure about big lenses, I think the ones I have got will do me for quite a while. Just hope it stops raining long enough to let me get out and play with it :)

........... Just hope it stops raining long enough to let me get out and play with it :)

You and me both Susie. My 5D arrived on Tuesday and it's not stop raining since!!!

Congrats on the new toy.

Hmmm, on the grounds of sods law perhaps I should have got a rain cover for it. I could always try the wax coat trick, rain usually goes away when I wear it

Tut...Canon ?! How can I teach you how to use that !

 surely its like computers - alll the same just different labels :exit:

Canon's are PC's...you need to read about them, faff with it, carefully put the battery in, incase it breaks...

Nikons are like Apple Macs. You get out the bag and you start shooting :p

Aye - we'll be fine

PMSL, I have started reading about them, and put the battery in without breaking it so I must be 1/2 way there!

As for shooting Apple Macs, 12 bore's are not good for my shoulder but I could still use a .410

congrats on the new camera, i am sure you will have lots of fun with it
