Just got home with this bad boy! First thoughts are that feel wise it's not too different to the 7d! It's not too different in weight and is a really nice feeling camera!

Another forum member posted asking to know if something was stolen! The cynics on the forum decided it was more dodgy than a man with a swag bag wearing a stripy top! Well it turns out that the chap in question had a receipt. He had brought it without realising that you needed to buy lenses! He then tried getting rid on ebay, only to be messed around with a dodgy seller.

Meaning I got a brand new, UK model 1dx for the princely sum of £1500! Thats a fair whack for me, but seems like too good a bargain to pass up on.

It came with everything in brand new condition! Even has the warranty cards!

Now all I want is for the bloody battery to charge... Hurry the ****** up!!!

Now all I want is to go out and take some photos!

What a steel , not literally though from the sounds of it . I think that anyone else in your shoes would have done the same . I'm very jealous :(

I've a copy of the receipt for insurance purposes. I am the luckiest guy alive. It just goes to show that you should not judge a book by it's cover. Some people just want an easy life... Also outside of internet photographer world over a grand for a camera is not an easy sale!!!

I couldn't believe my luck when I agreed the sale, and refused to accept it until I had it in my hands. Been super excited all day. Got no work done!

I couldn't be happier. My first reaction was panic trying to work out how to change it from manual to Av etc... Couldn't find the dial. Quickly got the manual to realise I was being a silly sod.

Got a massive learning curve coming.

It's a bit dark to take pics now! I might be going to Bristol for the weekend tomorrow morning but if not I will give it a decent test tomorrow morning.

I need to digest the manual a bit first, as the buttons and layout is a bit different to what I am used too. First reaction though is that you can definitely tell the difference to a crop in terms of distance. Another observation is that I cannot find the A function... It has a P function... Which I assume is this camera's version of A.

Another observation is that Canon are having a laugh - I thought 7d replacement batteries were expensive. This takes it to a whole new level! £140 for a battery!
