I just got an umbrella to put my SB-600 though it strobist style, I know its not the most powerfull flash but has to do for now. this was the first shot I took with it

I triggered the flash using Nikons CLS.

I find using it a bit hard and cannt get the lighting correct. I was wondering if you guys can offer any advise orif you know where I can find some usefull tutorials online.

Hope you like Snoopy by the way.

Many thanks

Kardo

strobist.com is the obvious answer.

The SB-600 has enough power to do what you need through an umbrella in this situation. Don't forget CLS is driven by the camera metering system, and if that is fooled, you will get incorrect exposures, or at least exposures you didn't intend.

So with CLS you may want to look at using some exposure compensation on the flash

Are you triggering with a cord or wirelessly? (eg. SU-800)?

I use the on board flash to trigger the remote one.

I was playing with Flash exposure values and seem to be getting better results.

thanks for the advise
