Hi All,
I've been looking round this forum and I find its just up my street.
Professionally I work in the (motion) film industry, specialising in the technical side of high end film-xfer & digital post production.
I'm qualified as a broadcast engineer, classically trained in TV production (studios, lighting) as well as spending my first few years (of 12) as a live tv "vision engineer" real time correcting and balancing HD studio cameras (upto 8 at a time)... That's my disclaimer..
At present, I play rugby, but also have a passion for sports/event photography.. As from above you can guess I love all things about quality images. I love capturing people in situations, actions, reactions and emotions...
I have some very modest gear in a Nikon D80, stock 18-135 & Tamron 70-300. I can get some decent shots (within the limitation of my kit)...
My Digital workflow consists of Lightroom3 (love it) & Photoshop CS5 (new to me, up from PS6).
I've been looking for a while of moving on with my photographic passion and potentially starting out as what I do believe the term here is "weekend worrier". No wanting to rock the boat by commenting, but the transition from full time professional "somethingelse", to full time pro-photog is not straight forward and easy, but then that's obvious...
I've got a plan of upgrading in a year or two to some pro gear, but for now I'm exploring what I can get out of my current kit pushing it and utilising its RAW workflow capability...
I also have a passion for strobist photography, and so I have a set of Nissin strobes, remotes, umbrellas etc...
I would eventually like to look at event & Sports being a staple income enough to move into it full time...
That's me for now, I will be around learning alot and hopefully popping 5p's worth here and there..
Cheers,
Gareth
