New to the forum

Hi,

Well took the plunge a couple of weeks back and bought myself my first DSLR, a seond hand Nikon D5000 with the kit lens 18-55mm. I added a second hand Nikon 55-200mm. Also bought a smallish travel tripod.

So far I am really enjoying it, starting use some of the settings, ISO and aperture priority and had a dabble with shutter speed.

I want to take landscape pictures mostly, but will quite happily take pictures of most things, not very keen on portraits, not sure why just not my thing.

Any way just wanted to say hello.

Hi James and welcome to TP.

Plenty inspiration in here for you (BTW - I am not too keen on photographing people).

When you get comfortable with your camera have a try using it on manual. Lots of folk settle on that eventually.

Thanks for the welcome guys, the forum does seem very friendly and covers a wide range of ability from beginner (me!) to pro's.

I just need to get out and take some pictures now, once that bright yellow thing in the sky comes back, I seem to have forgotten what it looks like over the past few weeks!
