I've been toying with the idea for some time and today watched a good comparison video by Martin Cheung which had been posted on here. The Shanny SN600SN seems a good bet as it is, almost, plug and play and appears to be a well featured piece of kit particularly the HSS. I'd appreciate a bit of guidance on which online resources will be most beneficial in helping me understand more about the whole field of lighting both from a technical point of view and also artistic. Initial use will be mainly around my grand-kids and the dogs!

Many thanks

Neil

Plenty to keep you amused in there and well respected advice too.

(although they tend to be strobe orientated rather than speedlight), but as you will see the power from a strobe is more flexible/powerful and can be just as portable (almost).

The advice is nevertheless still about lighting and therefore the principles are the same.

Garry Edwards their tech guru, posts on here and will no doubt be along with his sage advice. :)

Neil,

Martin is a member on the forum. I have seen his vids and have bought the shanny, not tried HSS but it works well with the yn622n triggers and is a well built flash.

With regards to using OCF there are various video tutorial on YouTube, apart from that as above the strobist website is also good.

thanks for all the guidance - this is an area of photography I could become really interested in,
