I'm Elen, 38 and from Cambs. Stumbled upon the site when looking for the best price for a nifty fifty lens ! Unfortunately it appears I cant buy ot off this site until I have been registered and joined in for a bit so thats what I am doing .
Very very amateur photographer - but I enjoy what I do manage to acheive! Was bought my first DSLR 18mths ago as a birthday gift from my husband and like to use it when life and kids allow me to !! I have a Canon 400D and currently just have the kit lens it came with which has given me some half decent results so far. When I work out how to do it I will add a link to my flickr page if thats allowed ?
I have for the last 2 years tried to participate in a photo a day group on flickr but unfortunately have yet to complete a full year. I will try again in 2010 !
I recently took many photos at a friends wedding abroad and they were very pleased with them and are using some in an album they are putting together. I am at another wedding in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks and thought I would get myself a new lens to try out. My aim is to get a few really good shots, get them printed and put them in an album for my friends as a wedding gift as they have asked for no gifts at all !
I have been on a one day course at the beginning of the year which was really just a getting to know your camera course but it was very useful and helped me get off the auto setting on the camera.
So I will be asking for advice on my lens choice - is the nifty fifty a good choice if I like taking photos of people - usually unposed, so I need to be able to snap away. Weddings, parties anywhere groups of people gather and I like to get the camera out. I also like photographing flowers, plants and small animals/insects.
