Hi all,

Im very new to all this, have wanted to get into photography for ages but never got round to it. However now my girlfriend has bought me a camera i can get cracking.

The camera is a Fuji s5700, itobviously not an SLR but its a decent start by all accounts.

First question, of many no doubt, where do i start???

I have been playing around with it, but not really learning systematically, just trying different settings and seeing how they turn out.

Whats a good subject to photograph to learn how the different settings affect the image?

At the moment most of my pictures seem to be very soft and when i am not using the flash blury, but i imagine this is because i am not using decent enough natural light?

Apologies for the very amature questions, ill get up to speed soon i promise!

Cheers

Matt

One of the first starting points would be to get yourself some decent books on the basics of photography. If you do a search on here there are plenty of threads with recommended books.

Hi ! and welcome. Get a book and start from there. Then post any questions on here and you'll off to a good start !

Welcome and congrats on your new camera. I would say read your manual and get a good book to start and play with your camera at every opportunity ;)

Thanks for your replies and warm welcome!

Ill let you know how i get on :)
