New things annoy me

Last week I purchased a shiny new graphics card for my computer to run dual monitors. It was only a cheap one (~£50), but it took me a while to save up as I spend a lot of my money on more important things. When it got here it ran fine but it idled at 95 degrees C! Obviously this is way too hot so it had to go back to eBuyer.

Last week I also ordered a new phone, a Nokia N85 on a £35/m contract. Surprise surprise, when it arrived at my house, it had a single red pixel slap bang in the middle of the screen, so that's going back too.

Seriously, my luck is just terrible and I don't want to buy anything else new now because of this

Sorry about this rant lol.

When a single red pixel is enough for an item to be rejected, it says a lot about the depths that society has sunk to.

I was talking to a chap yesterday who was telling of how terrible it is that there are so many homelss people. The chap lives alone in a 5 bedroom house and wouldn't consider having a homeless person live with him.

That speaks volumes about society too.

Ummm...a mobile phone is just a telephone...surely?
If it weren't for the fact that the batteries no longer accepted a full charge, I'd still be using my old old Nokia with the black & white screen...

I understand, but when you're 15, being able to afford a £300 phone is difficult while trying to afford photography as a hobby.

And I don't just use my phone as a phone, I use it for music, videos, maps and internet.

Do you understand why I sent it back now? :)

I use my mobile to control laser setellites that will one day destroy the TP hamster, because the little sod bit me last week.

I use it to call, text, and admittedly, surf the net once in a while, but I'm on Orange, so I never get good enough signal to use it for the net :p

similar but orange gets a good signal round here (the only network that gets signal at work) and i get 3g at home, but why would i use my phone on the net at home when i have a laptop and broadband!

i guess we all have different usage requirements from our field telephones!

when you get something new and its not working properly then you send it back, its called expectations of paying for something and it working properly, ok so maybe you wouldnt send it back but the OP would because it doesnt meet his expectations, fair enough, but it has **** all to do with society.

Maybe look at phones with contracts at less than £35pcm?

WTF has this got to do with society?

That's right, nothing. Which exactly the same amount it has in common with said person in 5 bedroom house.

Personally if I buy something and it is not working as designed then I will send it back to get one that is working as designed.

SEND it back? If I'm buying something that may well prove faulty, I'll go to a local retailer and help keep them in business. If there is a problem with the product, I can take it back to them, show them the problem and get a replacement on the spot. Sure, I may pay a little more than I would if I got "bargains" over the internet but at least I get proper face to face service and somewhere to see and handle products before parting with my money.
